Great Glasses!

Getting these new babies really peaked my interest in all of the awesome eyewear out there. For me, it is a necessity as I have the vision of a naked mole rat. I've always got a few pairs on the go, but they are always pretty cheap, Hakim optical always seems to ensnare me with some buy-one-get-one deal. But buyer beware, they really age badly and I always regret my purchase!!! So from now on, it's quality over quantity!!!

Here are the BEAUTIES that set me on a quest for big cat-eye glasses. Tom Ford, you brilliant bastard.

Because I KNOW if I have these, I'll look just like that.

What I found, might actually be not too bad:

Closest I could come up with on a wedding budget.

I also came up with some pretty fab Sunglasses on etsy, for pretty cheap! (Which is brilliant for me, I have a bad habit of sitting on my sunglasses, whomp whomp)

And I know the picture is not quite as slick, but think of the fashion awesomeness that could be these:

There's also, um, These: (and yes, you can click through to purchase this treasure before another WILDTHING reader snaps them up)
$42 bones, folks!

Christmas at HOME!

Took a quick jaunt home for three days of christmas madness. The family Peck had a lunchtime visit with lots of laughs, the family Benben for a yummy turkey dinner, and even got to hang with these bitches:

Robin bought us a game to play on Christmas eve, QUELF. While the title makes me uncomfortable, this game is is funniest drinking game we have played in a long time. Okay, it's not supposed to be a drinking game, but any game that requires any version of charades also requires alcohol. Giggles ensue.
Game rules require you to wear the box under your shirt.

Best rule ever: must have a drink in your left hand at all times.

Robin fashioning a scuba mask (with drink in left hand)

all in, Christmas rocked my socks.

A VERY PECK-BLACK CHRISTMAS

There's a few things it just ain't christmas without. Yes, of course, family, friends, and a visit from Santa, but in the Peck-Black christmas celebrations, there's a few extra (and colorful) little tidbits that make it extra special. Here's what I'm looking forward to the most this year!!!

I'll Be Home For Christmas!
This is the first year I haven't been home to decorate the tree, drink Bailey's with Robin wrapping presents, and make bake my famous whipped shortbread cookies. But count me as one of the lucky few theatre gals who gets to board a jet plane and fly home on christmas eve! I'm counting down "Sleeps" like a patient five year old would do. I'm literally catching the red eye for Christmas! I would call myself a jet setter, but my plane will probably look like this:
   Modern Edmonton travel.

Kisses from my Ugly Dog.
Pluto was on discount when Robin picked up our little runty treasure (in fact, pluto was around before I was, though he has now decided I am the official "Mama". He loves Snausages, hates keys rattling and ALWAYS wants pizza. What a smelly boy.
Yes, his tooth always looks like that.

MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL
Christmas eve in momma and poppa Peck's house means lots of Hors Dourves, Classical christmas music and The Muppet Christmas Carol movie. On Christmas eve I trade my cabbage diet for a Puppet Cabbage, muppet style.
It's in the singing of a streetcorner choir... Sitting home and getting warm by the fire, it's true wherever you may go, it feels like christmas.."

Animaniacs Christmas Special
On Christmas, we bust out the VHS playa and watch one of the best animated shows ever on television (next to TMNT) and watch Yakko, Wacko and Dot, Pinky and the Brain, the mimes from Good Idea, Bad Idea, and Chicken Boo celebrate Christmas. I hear it gets even funnier as a grown up. I'll let ya know if I ever become one. Awesome sidenote: My dad collects Pinky and the Brain stuff. I have an AWESOME treasure for him this christmas!
"Tonight, we take over the WORLD!"

More to Come, Later tonight. Two more sleeps!!!

NEW YEARS EVE DRESSES!

The best part of a new year's eve in T.O. is the getting ready. The rest of the night (unless you are at a house party) becomes inevitable line ups, over-perfuming, cabs that have no room unless you've got 50 bones and the best part? YOU ALWAYS GO TO YOUR REGULAR PLACE. The same place you go every time you want a night out on the town. Make no mistake, I am not down on this ritual, this right of every twenty-something Toronto-ite. All i'm saying is nothing beats the feeling of playing the boomtang boys while putting on a new dress, that first glass of poison, and a whole night of debauchery ahead of you.

What to wear?! I have no clue, here are some ideas for all you sexy retro ladies to toss around in the old noodle. Do something BRAVE this new years!!!

50's Red Velvet Cocktail Dress w/ bow at waist from MONSTERPEACE

Avant Garde 80's multicolored Velvet Mini from WILDTHINGVINTAGE

Weston Wear Pink 3D Swirl Bodycon Dress from GravelGhostVintage

80s High Waist Turquoise Houndstooth Skinny Pants from TarantulaSisters

80s Polka Dot Red and Black Peplum Cocktail Dress from CharmingGypsyVintage

These are some of my favorite Shops on Etsy, and some KILLER NYE looks. The best part? No one will show up wearing your dress!

SCARED IN THE MIND.

I  wanted to write this blog last night, but i'm currently living in a 2- level hotel room that has a door that keeps unlocking and waiting for me, open, almost every day. Needless to say, daylight is my friend here at the Mayfield Inn.

I saw HUGO yesterday, and loved it (if you are a fan of cinema and its origins, you MUST see it). The movie features an automaton, and it got me thinking about PIN.
Hugo's Automaton

This movie scared the BEJEESUS outta me. Btw, I saw it at 16. I've seen TONS of horror and B movies, am a total film nerd, and didn't expect much from this quiet Canadian movie. But hot damn, between this and the original Black Christmas, can we Canucks do horror or WHAT?!

Remember this video cover at the on-the-corner video stores in the suburbs?

Leon and Ursula are brother and sister. They have crappy parents. Their mother is an OCD clean freak and their father is a Doctor who pretty much ignores his kids except in one tiny little way.
No, he doesn’t rape them. He uses ventriloquism and a life-sized mannequin named Pin (Pinocchio – get it?) to explain the facts of life to his kids. Seems harmless enough, but little old Leon believes the doll is real. This is reinforced when Leon catches a nurse having sex with the mannequin.
After the parents die in a car crash, the fun begins. Leon brings Pin home to live with him and his sister. Pin begins to give Leon advice on life just like before. And who to kill. So the question is: Is Leon crazy or is Pin real?
-(Stolen from 365horrormovie.com)

If you want to get REALLY scared, like, SCARED IN THE MIND, see this sad and haunting movie about a boy and his mannequin friend.

Look what I made...

Subtle and small. That's so me.

Oh, to be young again...

I'm going through the "missing my short hair" phase. Not going through the "miss having no eyebrows" phase, however.

YOU OUGHTA KNOW... ROBIN BLACK

I had a whole blog written about how wonderful my fiance is, then I accidentally deleted it. That was lame. Robin sure isn't. His band didn't have to be your style, his sport doesn't have to be the one you love, but that awesome man has done so much with his life it'll make your head spin. We should all be so driven to succeed. I never got to see Robin play live, and (guilty admission) I didn't own all of his music. But we kept crossing paths for years, and finally, I found my match. He helps me find my drive and my passion, always holds my hand and ALWAYS looks good doing it :) He inspires me every day, and I learn so much from him all the time. And he does a mean "Comic Book Guy" impression.

The $100 basement tattoo. My matching one is on my bum. Nothin but class.

Onstage being the Rock Star he is.

He loves me even when I won't remove the mouse ears.

LOOK. AT. THAT. SMILE.

Freckles, blue eyes and sunburns. The two lesser attractive qualities are of course, mine.

The cover of his second album, "Instant Classic"

Robin proposing onstage in "The Wedding Singer"

Here's my favorite video of Robin's from back in the day. It rocks my world, kinda like he does.

Sorry world, I'm marrying this guy in a month. You missed your chance.

I want you so bad...

I want you so bad...

I want you so bad... by wildthingvintage featuring red boots

Okay, I already bought the American Flag Boots. I'm a blogger, that means it's in my contract to own a pair of Litas.

Oh, the people you'll be!

I really do love my job. It's unreliable, often under-paying and of course, being in theatre YOU work when everyone else doesn't, but you'll never meet cooler cats than in my business. You'll also never get to be so many different people. Here's a quick look at who i've gotten to be so far in my 5 years in Show Biz:
My first gig, at Canada's Wonderland. That's right, I worked in a castle

I'm heading off for a two-show day, those are long. Imagine having deja-vu for 2 1/2 hours straight. BUT i'm gonna walk into work, laugh with my beautiful friends, make an audience forget about thier troubles and pretend i'm in the 80s all day. Not too shabby. Not too shabby at all.
